About the play:
“THE FISHERMAN AND HIS SOUL” is a fairy tale with a great symbolic load, offering us a “descent” into its depth and philosophy, into the depths of our being. The fairy tale is not only a story of forbidden love, rather it can be an “x-ray ” on the heart, on happiness, on our own important life decisions.
The literary value of the fairy tale, full of metaphors and symbols, was a great challenge for the production team: director, set designer, composer, choreographer, video designer and, last but not least, the ACTORS! This exceptional fairy tale, with philosophical/life inflections, with a particular energetic load, with characters (acting, puppets, masks) that require a certain virtuosity, are just some of the fundamental “ingredients” of the transposition of the director’s thought together with the PRICHINDEL Theatre ACTORS from Alba Iulia. They are all open to challenges, they are extremely receptive, dedicated to acting, the characters, we are talking about a company with great artistic/human potential! In their creative souls there is the potential to bring this fairy tale to life, which has not been staged in the last 30/40 years. It is a complex text, difficult to dramatize and transpose onto stage, it requires a lot of fantasy and creative imagination for a modern/bold performance, as today’s audience deserves… totally open to challenges.
“The soul is a terrible reality. It can be bought, and sold, and bartered away. It can be poisoned, or made perfect. There is a soul in each one of us. I know it.” Oscar Wilde
