WITH BIG STEPS TOWARDS INDEPENDENCE
Biba is nine years old and has a very big problem. The “problem” is a 43 years old man and his name is Malou. Malou is Biba’s father and suffers from bipolar disorder. He is chaotic, happy, full of energy, angry or extremely sad, and these moods can change suddenly. On his bad days, he is unable to dress himself and Biba has to come up with all kinds of excuses so that Malou can miss work and he can skip school. On his good days, Malou enthusiastically engages in activities that, however, he fails to complete. Thus, the son plays the role of the father, and the father needs care and attention like a child. However, Biba loves him. A story that is comic and sad at the same time, in which the relations of authority are playfully inverted, to be viewed from a different perspective.
